It’s a ZOO out there!

Mackenzie Moyer shared a post on the MET FB group at the JoeZoo app. If you’re not part of the group or skipped over, I thought I would share as it is quite interesting and has a potential use of educators, tutors, and potentially copywriting consultants or editors. https://getjoezoo.com/

The app touts itself as “a feedback and grading app that helps teachers give more effective feedback, with 80% less effort, and guides students to build 21st Century Skills in every assignment.”

If interested, the following is an article from The Globe and Mail Report on Business:

What are your thoughts on the applicability and use of such an app to decrease the amount of time it takes to review and grade assignments? What are the tradeoffs in moving to this type of technology especially for students with IEPs?

Agreed with Kendall – that teachers can add links to comments to students have access to help – this is a great new key piece of feedback! So often, feedback is given with an opinion on how a student completed work, without further explanation as to exactly how this feedback can be implemented for the future.

Additionally, if there is a good decrease in time for grading, does this present opportunities for teachers to use that time toward other activities and initiatives, such as more creative lesson planning, 1:1 assistance with students, etc.? Overall, I really like seeing how new innovative opportunities continue to arise in the world of education. I am excited to see where it goes.

Emma – great point about the potential for opportunities for time to be used for other activities or 1:1 assistance with students. It would be fascinating to see what positive outcomes for both students and teachers would come from this.

    Hi Nicole,
Thank you for sharing this app! I also watched a quick tutorial on it and it does seem quite slick for giving feedback. I really like the fact that the teacher can add links to their comments so that students can have instant access to instructions for how to improve their writing.
