For this activity you will describe the change initiative that you were thinking of when answering the poll in the last page. I’d like you to follow the steps below:
- Read this article – Leading Change: Why Transformation Efforts Fail by John P. Kotter.
- Outline all the steps taken (that you are aware of) by the change initiative team from conception of the initiative to it’s completion [*should include an example here].
- Identify all activities taken by the change initiative team (that you are aware of) to engage and map different stakeholders, and understand the impact of the project.
- Reflect on what could have been improved, and how.
- Connect the proposed improvements to the learning outcomes of this module. As a reminder the learning outcomes are:
- Understand key principles and activities that influence the success of a change initiative
- Identify who is impacted by your new initiative and how they are impacted
- Identify potential resistance points and motivators for change for key stakeholder
- Start building a plan to manage the change for your initiative
