Assignment 4 – Thought Process and Multi-Sensory Connections

I have chosen to create a cartoon using Go-animate to tie together ideas of Bolter (2001), Englebart (1997), Nelson (1991) and Ong (1982) about the human thought process and connection of ideas. My cartoon is light-hearted but ties in the ideas of all four scholars. There are 5 characters. One character (middle0 is neutral and attempting to process the information presented by the four characters representing the information.

I am unable to embed the video as I have limited sharing capabilities due to the use of a trial version of Go Animate to create this cartoon. Please click on the link below in order to watch the video.

The man on the left represents the ideas of Bolter (2001). The woman beside him portrays the ideas of Nelson (1991) about Project Xanadu. The woman in the middle is a neutral observer reflecting on all of the ideas presented. The man on the right represents the views of Englebart (1997) and the woman on the right presents the views of Ong (1982).

The conclusion addresses an idea about copyright which may likely gain both supporters and opposition. I value copyright as an individual, however I am aware of its hindrance from a collective perspective. Your thoughts and comments are welcome.

  1. This 3:16 min animated video seems a plain story but it includes almost all elements of modern art of storytelling called digital storytelling. Visuals are facilitated by characters’ voice. Meaningful content creation with interactive web tool is difficult task especially with a story. Without writing a single word, you have successfully employed basic concepts giving by the four scholars into a story. Thanks for sharing.

  2. What a great way to sum up the ideas of the main the ideas of the main thinkers of this course. The use of a “neutral” character was helpful to keep the conversation moving forward and lay out the ideas.
