Resource Room

Located in the CTLT office on the second floor of the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre, the Resource Room houses a collection of approximately one thousand books, as well as articles, newsletters, and other resources on the topics of teaching, learning, facilitation, and professional development. The collection itself is non-circulating and can be accessed in the Resource Room during office hours at CTLT. A database of its holdings, searchable by author, descriptor, and publication is available on the Resource Room section of the CTLT website. The Resource Room houses the collection, provides a space for its use, and serves as an open door centre for collaboration in the UBC teaching and learning community. Every week, we host a drop-in during which time anyone can come for a Resource Room consultation. The Resource Room has also joined other Reading Rooms on the UBC campus to create a WordPress site where the members of the UBC community can access our database of holdings as well as other resources and events.

The Resource Room Coordinator carries out requested literature reviews for contribution to the existing collection of bibliographies, shares news items of interest to the teaching and learning community on the UBC CTLT twitter account (@UBC_CTLT), and provides consultation services around accessing teaching and learning resources. The space is also used by CTLT Technical Specialists to hold WordPress and Tech Lab clinics. These projects and other open door activities contribute to the establishment of the Resource Room as a centre for teaching and learning collaboration on campus.
