Dwelling by Lindsay Diehl, Tomas Jonsson, and Jenifer LaFrance

In Dwelling, Lindsay Diehl, Tomas Jonsson, and Jenifer LaFrance explore notions of inheritance, identity, and belonging, by constructing domestic spaces informed by their own personal experiences and family histories. With this construction, Diehl, Jonsson, and LaFrance hope not only to encourage deep reveries about the past, but also to illustrate how domestic spaces are infused with the bodies, dreams, and dramas that ‘dwell’ within them. The installation highlights domestic spaces as important sites of interaction and connection, at once familiar and strange, intimate and unknowable, common yet different. The works reflect how these spaces can allow for conversations and exchanges across these tensions, serving as both private invitation and public address. For the visitor, the space constructed requires more than just observation; it invites a dwelling.
