  1. Canadian Evidence Based Guidelines to Improve the Health of Homeless and Vulnerably Housed People

In October, I began participating in this research project under the supervision of Dr Kevin Pottie. Delphi consensus method was used, so I was asked to conduct surveys among vulnerably housed people in Vancouver. This process was also underway in 7 other Canadian cities.

I managed to collect 11 surveys, all completed by patients of Dr David Tu at the Vancouver Native Health Society medical clinic.

Unfortunately, the sub-theme of Indigenous Homelessness health was taken over by a Toronto-based research team who wasn’t reporting back to the rest of the team.  While awaiting central recommendations on their behalf, it was suggested I work on a different project, still under the supervision of Dr Kevin Pottie.

2.  Experiences of Refugees and Other Migrants who are Homeless or Vulnerably Housed: A Systematic Qualitative Review

Two medical students were already involved in this project and, with Dr Pottie, had selected 17 pertinent studies  to review.

One student is still working on the project with me. She completed a data extraction table. I read through the 17 studies, and reviewed the table in order to corroborate the data.  We both did a quality assessment of each study using the CASP approach.

The next step will be to  assess the summarized  key findings using GRADE CERQual before writing our article.
