Alyssa Colins (Honours Student)

Alyssa is an undergraduate biochemistry student that joined the Gibson Lab in her 5th year as a volunteer and is currently completing an Honours project. Her research focuses on characterizing behavioral dysfunction associated with the Muc2⁻/⁻ mouse model of chronic colitis following exposure to Mediterranean and Western dietary patterns. This work aims to better understand the gut-brain axis and how diet influences disease outcomes of IBD and colitis. Outside the lab, Alyssa enjoys painting with acrylics and oils as a creative outlet.
Abby Bartoshewski (Volunteer)

Abby joined the lab as a volunteer in 2024 and is an undergraduate student at UBC Okanagan studying Biochemistry with a minor in Mathematics. She is currently working on a meta-analysis project and is excited to keep contributing to future lab projects. Outside of school and research, Abby enjoys skateboarding, skiing, and spending time outdoors. She also loves reading and hanging out with her friends and family.
