Hi all,
This probably doesn’t come up all that often, or if it does you probably already know the answer, but I had this question today from a UVIC grad student and did some sleuthing so I thought I’d share it with you just in case:
In order for students from other British Columbian institutions to get ASRS material they need to:
1. Get a COPPUL card from their institution
2. Once they have a COPPUL card, they need to get a Community Borrower Card from the Koerner circulation desk. Note: Requests can be made by phone and cards mailed to the student.
3. With both cards in hand, the student can make their ASRS request and pick up their material.
Phew!

A patron needed help today converting a document created in Open Office – with an .ODT file extention – to a Word doc. Word wouldn’t recognize it. A Google search found some online options to convert it, but the easiest way seemed to be using ZohoWriter. Once he created an account, he was able to open his document in ZohoWriter and then copy and paste it into Word. Success!

Cheap, as in price, of course.

Felix Culpa announces their most ambitious production: Revenge by David Bloom. Revenge, a modern adaptation of the Jacobean classic The Revenger’s Tragedy, is the story of Vindici who, in avenging the murder of his fiancée, sets about to kill his enemies in increasingly creative and terrifying ways. With Vancouver’s most exciting director, James Fagan Tait (A Christmas Carol, Crime and Punishment), and eleven performers—including Bill Dow as Vindici—Revenge will be a sensual shocker on a grand scale.
Revenge is a collaboration between playwright David Bloom, director James Fagan Tait, actors Bill Dow (as Vindici), Cherise Clarke (BFA Acting), Alex Diakun, Michael Eisner, Anna Hagan, Jay Hamburger, Raphael Kepinski, Meghan Kinsley, Josue Laboucane, James Pizzinato and Linda Quibell, and award-winning designers Mara Gottler (Costumes), Kate King (Set), and John Webber (Lighting).

Today in Gov pubs we loked at RG-10 files (RG =”Record Group”) from the Dept. of Indian Affairs. RG-10 contains records relating to the Indian peoples of British Columbia including School files.
The index is available online through ArchiviaNet
There are other RG files microforms which are listed on the Journals and Microform Collections page under “National Archives material on microfilm“, an inventory of UBC library holdings. The entry for RG-10 Archival records links to a description of Collection, reel numbers and guides.
