Alison Tracy

Ali received her B.A. (Hon’s) in Psychology in 2016 from the University of British Columbia Okanagan and is now a graduate student in the Clinical Psychology Program at UBC. The overarching goal of her research is to better understand resiliency factors related to Major Depressive Disorder in order to inform intervention. She is currently examining the role of emotion regulation strategies in psychological and biological responses to stress in participants with MDD. Contact: alison.tracy@alumni.ubc.ca

 

Ellen Jopling

Ellen is originally from Vancouver, and completed her BA (Honours) in Psychology and Philosophy at Queen’s University. The overarching goal of her research is to promote a greater understanding of the conditions in which depressive disorders emerge, and more specifically, in the long-term cognitive and biological effects of early life stress. Dr. Joelle LeMoult

Joelle received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Miami in 2012 and completed her clinical internship at St. Joseph’s Healthcare, Hamilton. The overarching goal of her research is to further our understanding of the onset, maintenance, and recurrence of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). Using a multimodal approach, she examines the cognitive, emotional, and biological responses to environmental stressors that contribute to symptoms of depression and comorbid anxiety disorders.

Research Interests: Depression and psychobiological responses to stress; understanding how depression develops and unfolds across the lifespan; integrating cognitive, biological, and emotional measures to better elucidate the link between stress and depression.

Driving Directions

We are located on the first floor of the Douglas Kenny Building (2136 West Mall V6T 1Z4) in Room 1716. We recommend parking in the West Parkade, which is located directly across the street from us (2140 Lower Mall V6T 1Z4).

The best way to find us is to take either West 4th Ave or West 16th Ave to get to UBC.

If you are coming from West 4th Avenue: West 4th Avenue will turn into Chancellor Blvd. Stay on this road and it turns into NW Marine Drive. Continue down Marine Drive and turn left onto University Blvd (there is a 3-way stop at this intersection). Stay on University Blvd for one block. Turn right onto Lower Mall and you will see a large concrete parkade directly on your left (the red star on the map below). This is the West Parkade.

If you are coming from West 16th Avenue: Stay in the left lane as you go down 16th Avenue until you drive past East Mall. After you go past East Mall, switch to the right lane, and merge right onto SW Marine Drive. Continue on SW Marine Drive and turn right onto University Blvd (there is a 3-way stop at this intersection). Stay on University Blvd for one block. Turn right onto Lower Mall and you will see a large concrete parkade directly on your left (the red star on the map below). . This is the West Parkade.

If you are already on Marine Drive (from 41st/49th/70th Ave): Continue on SW Marine Drive past West 16th Ave. Turn right onto University Blvd (there is a 3-way stop at this intersection). Stay on University Blvd for one block. Turn right onto Lower Mall and you will see a large concrete parkade directly on your left (the red star on either map). This is the West Parkade.

Remember to pay for 3 hours of parking at the pay stations. We will reimburse you for the cost of parking and will extend your parking if your visit is longer than 3 hours.

Exit the parking structure on Level 4, and you will see the Douglas Kenny Building (the purple star on either map) directly across the street. We are located on the first floor in Room 1716.

Depending on which bus you take, you will arrive at either the Diesel Bus Exchange (pink on the map below) or at the Trolley Bus Loop (blue on the map below).

  • If you arrive at the Diesel Bus Exchange: Walk south along Wesbrook Mall until you reach University Boulevard. Turn right onto University Boulevard and continue four blocks, past the Martha Piper fountain, until you reach West Mall. Take a left on West Mall and the Douglas Kenny Building (the purple star on the map below) is the second building on your left. We are located on the first floor in Room 1716.
  • If you arrive at the Trolley Bus loop: You will arrive on University Boulevard. Continue walking west on University Boulevard (into the heart of campus), for three blocks, past the Martha Piper fountain, until you reach West Mall. Take a left on West Mall and the Douglas Kenny Building (the purple star on the map below) is the second building on your left. We are located on the first floor in Room 1716.
