A wonderful little vlog convo for a rainy Sunday (Tuesday) night. Enjoy! Merci!
Apologies for the poor video quality, zoom kinda blows.
My question for viewers is what do you think of the ending of the book and Natalia’s view of her life and the apparent shift in her feelings? did you find it to be more of a melancholy or a happy ending?
Ha! I was waiting to point out that the book was written in Spanish, not Catalan, but Kendra got there first! 🙂
Your point on the matter-of-fact tone is well made. Others have also mentioned that Natalia’s quite passive, which I think is a complementary point. And yes, in many ways this is indeed not a very “dramatic” story. And yet a couple of times (at least) we see breaking points: the murder of the doves; the screams (including the one at the end); the visit to the church. (If we were Freudians, we might talk about this as the return of the repressed…)
Oops, the other way around, of course… Catalan, not Spanish!
