By the end (at least of this first book in the series) it seems to me that the girls are not just “semi-stuck” but more stuck than ever. Though we know from the prologue that eventually Lenù will get out. But here, the fact that Nino doesn’t publish her article seems to put an end to that recurrent dream of escape through writing.
