A continuous cyclical process

Educators contribute to the profession.

When I was placed at the elementary school for my field experience, I was looking forward to contributing to this community with my energy and new knowledge I had gained from the practicum. I had the privilege to collaborate with different teachers in a different setting and absorbed as much as I could. But because of the job action, we were moved to the next-door community centre.

This educational standard defines what my fellow teacher candidates and I did at the community centre. Although it was not in a regular school setting, we were able to support and contribute our expertise to the programs they offered. I felt at home when I was working alongside my colleagues towards the same goals.

Education is not just about teaching and learning, but it is also about the creation of new information for future educators to utilize and share. It is a cyclical process in which there is a continuous, back-and-forth discussion of teaching and learning. The spiral nature of this profession keeps us on our toes and up to date as well as sharing what resources and information others can find useful.
