Course Site

Page

This assignment, although challenging proved to show the most growth for me as a student.  I found I was feeling very tech- illiterate when completing this Moodle.  I had to search, research, and watch many videos in order to put it all together.  I found I was very frustrated as the platform just seems not very user friendly.  With patience, hard work and many hours I feel my site to be useful, informative and meeting the standards expected.

I have a landing page that guides students in the appropriate directions and feel I have great content with group discussions, assignments and hands on exploration.  The quiz is used as well as a calendar to ensure students stay on task and understand deadlines. (I have created the course as if it began Sept 8, 2014 so please scroll back to see the calendar due dates)

One of the most challenging parts was creating groups.  After collaborating with another peer in this course, we found that by YouTubing a video, it was actually pretty straight forward and easy to do (and with actually students in the program it would be even easier)

I found myself looking back to Anderson’s quote “The task of the online course designer and teacher… is to choose, adapt, and perfect, through feedback, assessment, and reflection, educational activities that maximize the affordances of the Web. In doing so, they will create learning-, knowledge-, assessment-, and community-centred educational experiences that will result in high levels of learning by all participants.” (Anderson, 2008a, p. 68)

Overall, I am happy with my product and hope you enjoy my course on integrating iPads into the elementary classroom.  I hope you enjoy my Moodle: http://moodle.met.ubc.ca/course/view.php?id=553
