Creating a Moodle site was challenging and educational. I found the platform to be very frustrating at times as it seems to be far less user friendly than other platforms I have experienced. I knew in my mind what I wanted to create but was struggling to find the tools to do so. Sometimes that is the hardest part with technology though isn’t it? I was happy to find multiple videos, tutorials, blogs etc to help out. That actually took the longest amount of time as I had to research how to do what I wanted to do. There are plenty of great examples out there though which I found to be very helpful. This task, although tedious turned out to be quite challenging and informative. I felt as though I was pushed past my comfort zone and was encouraged to problem solve and develop as a professional and as a student. It was reminiscent of how my students must feel at times when they are learning a new skill or task. Overall, an assignment that will carry with me as i felt I jumped many obstacles and powered through to produce what I feel is a visually appealing and useful platform.
I tried to think of what would be needed in order for the website to be successful, I wanted to incorporate interactive activities, so I added a survey as well as videos, tutorials, how to’s and a calendar for them to look over. I also included a discussion platform. I wanted there to be pictures to keep the visuals going to attract the eye as well as connect what the topic would be about. I added elements that make the website usable but of course could use to be added to as time goes on. I feel I have successfully achieved what the assignment has requested and hope you enjoy my Moodle!
