MED IN LITERACY EDUCATION with an emphasis on Indigenous Knowledges & Pedagogies (IKP2)
Begins July 2014 | Burnaby

> THE PROGRAM
This Master of Education in Literacy Education with an emphasis on Indigenous Knowledges & Pedagogies will focus on school and classroom processes and practices that support Aboriginal learners using educational frameworks, theory and approaches that focus on Indigenous knowledge. The goals of this program include:

>> to build educators’ knowledge, understanding and pedagogic skills about Indigenous education and Indigenous knowledge;
>> to challenge existing curriculum frameworks and structures so that educators may experience an Indigenous worldview and Indigenous knowledge and pedagogies; and
>> to provide new professional development opportunities for all educators to engage in learning about and practicing Indigenous pedagogies and ways of knowing and the thoughtful and strategic ways to implement these in education curricula and programming.
