The Faculty of Land and Food Systems is invested in the leadership development of students within our Faculty. As part of this investment, we are offering partial sponsorship of LFS students who wish to attend the 2016 UBC Student Leadership Conference (SLC), which will be held on the Vancouver campus on Saturday, January 9, 2016.
The SLC is one of the largest student-led conferences in North America, mixing peer-, alumni- and professional-led concurrent sessions, well-known keynote speakers, and innovative programming to deliver an informative and inspirational conference experience. You can learn more about the SLC by visiting slc.ubc.ca.
If you are interested in attending the SLC and the $30 registration fee is cost prohibitive, we invite all students to apply for partial funding to cover 50% of the registration fee ($15) by following the instructions below.
Requirements
- You are an undergraduate OR graduate student registered in the Faculty of Land & Food Systems;
- You plan to attend the full day of programming on Saturday, January 9th (9am-5pm);
- Submit your completed application form before 11:59pm on Friday, November 20th, 2015.
To Apply
If you meet these requirements and wish to apply, please compose a short 300-400 word letter outlining why you are interested in attending the SLC, how it will support you in your pursuit of personal and professional development, and how your attendance will have a positive influence on the Faculty (i.e. how might you apply your conference experience to benefit Faculty-related programming).
Please address your application to Karla Carreras, Student Engagement Officer, and submit it via email attachment to karla.carreras@ubc.ca by 11:59pm on Friday, November 20th, 2015.
