The text presentations in this class reminded me of the presentations I had my students do during practicum. The presentations came after students completed their literature circle novels and I was very impressed with the results. Such a great activity and it sounds like your students really enjoyed it. I am wondering if you shared those very detailed rubrics with your students before they started working on their Book Club assignments? I am also curious about what the students’ feedback to your detailed rubrics were? Did they see right away that your main emphasize was on the ‘understanding’ part?

Thank you for commenting! Yes, my SA advised that I share my rubrics beforehand so students understood what was being asked of them. Initially, I created a single point rubric but was asked to change it so it was more transparent. I thought the students would not respond well to this new rubric because it was too “wordy,” but instead I noticed the class had fewer questions going into the assignment. But I then wonder if I am limiting students’ creative capacity?
