VIDEO PRESENTATION

While the world is changing rapidly, the scene in the classroom has followed the trend. Instead of the conventional presentation with students wearing business attires and holding cue cards, nowadays we have the opportunity to exploit advanced technology to deliver the message to our audience via video presentation.

For this presentation, no one in the group had the experience of making 7 minute video so I expected this project would be a long journey. And sure enough, editing consumed more time than filming the contents, which I thought frankly unnecessarily overwork. However, I must admit that the result of the project was worth going through the hardship.

It was valuable experience giving me a lesson that video presentation is a much more powerful messenger once it is employed correctly and effectively. There are certain ways in which conventional presentations cannot satisfy audiences.  They can’t use visual effects to dazzle audiences so to keep them awake while delivering important messages. Also, video presentation helps the presenter send a clear message to the audience, because then the presenter can avoid conveying nervousness. Because the video is the final product, it only shows the best clip of dozens that were taken. All in all, a video presentation provides a clear message while entertaining the audiences so they can enjoy the presentation. Being awake and enjoying the presentation will enable the audience to learn more from it.

New Currency on Internet!!!

When bitcoin was initially created, people got excited about the concept that consumers can freely transfer money online to anywhere without going through financial institution. Then, there were a few publicized incidents where personal financial transaction records were being monitored by governments. Even if their actions are legitimate, people dislike this, and this scandal boosted the people’s interest in bitcoin, which guarantees a safe encrypted currency.

Also, bitcoin claims that there are minimal transaction fees, which could save a lot of money for many people. This is a strong advantage of bitcoin because people want to maximize their profit and savings. Another advantage is the accessibility world-wide. It is facilitated online where you can access bitcoin and cash out almost everywhere in the world. Nowadays, countries like Germany, China, US and Canada recognize bitcoin as a currency and allow it to be cashed out.

If you take a look at the price of the bitcoin, it is amazingly impressive: $700 per bitcoin! This will motivate many investors to look at bitcoin as a reasonable investing opportunity. And of course, it has drawn the attention of the general public.

However, here is the controversy that raises questions about bitcoin. This new online currency could result in serious tax evasion issues. If bitcoin is accessible everywhere in the world, easy to cash out, and has minimal transaction fees, it would be a piece of cake to commit tax evasion without strong regulations to monitor such conduct. Also, the unpredictability of the price of bitcoin should concern consumers or investors. Unlike gold or stock price, there are not many indices or variables that investors use to analyze the price. This means that such an increase in bitcoin will only result in promoting reckless investment without thorough analysis.

3D printing

The next generation of production is happening now.

With the emergence of the 3D printer, the industry will shift from mass production to an individual production phase. This technology will change industry and companies in production should be aware that this is the beginning of new era.

I agree with Kieran Baril’s opinion in his blog about the 3D printer’s endless possibilities. For example, you can make tools, trophies, toys and so on. Because it is an emerging market, there are many developers who are creating blueprints for products they want to make.

The means of production used to be controlled by the ones with capital, but with the price of the 3D printer going down, people now can produce at their own commodities. This indicates the shift of power from capitalism to the individual with the 3D printer.

History is coming full circle; we can expect that individuals in the near future will produce most things at home like our ancestors used to.

Niche Marketing

Niche marketing is about creating value for consumers to encourage loyalty for a company. By providing unique products and services to specific targets, the company will not be able to serve the general population; however, whoever fits into their customer category will be likely become a loyal consumer.

Then, is it worth it to do niche marketing, in which the company compromises bigger segment of potential consumers, and target a narrowed potential consumer market? Well, it depends. If your company is start up and cannot compete with corporations with humongous capital, you might as well position your company in a niche market. But if you are managing a big corporation, offering products that have broad apple, you might not even have to know about niche market. It is at your discretion to decide which market you want to pursue. However, I believe that niche marketing is definitely worth taking a look at it and considering at least.

Once you obtain loyal consumers, they are likely to buy your products over those of competitors. And, having this kind of consumer in your company’s customer profile is great advantage. Considering the cost benefit analysis, much less capital is required to market the products to loyal customers. Nowadays, increasing competition between companies requires everyone to use unique marketing methods to appeal to consumers. And, this niche marketing will help them to take a look at different segments of consumers where potential loyal consumers await.

Colour Marketing

When a consumer encounters a product, an initial impression takes less than a minute to determine whether the consumer likes the product or not. This short time is, in fact, one of the most conclusive and strong decision variable for the buying decision.

And, colour of the products partakes the major portion at initial impression. It is proven that people relate colors to certain moods and feelings; furthermore, consumers relate the colours to certain brands.

As many studies illustrate that colours help people to imagine certain characteristics, companies choose the colour of the products according to what people would perceive of the colour.

For example,Dewalt, tool company, chose black and orange to highlight the manliness and professional look instead of grey ,the standard colour the tools.

Think that you see Dewalt product on the shelve with other grey coloured tools. Dewalt products will stand out among all the products just by having right colour. Black and orange colour will imprint the certain characteristics Dewalt wants the customer to perceive: manliness and professional looks. And, this will certainly help the consumers to decide what to purchase.

Sometimes it is that easy to send the message to the customers by having the right colour. And, this is why I believe that the colour marketing is most cost effective method.

Unlimited plan for your cell phone?

When you choose a carrier for your cell phone, you are probably responding to advertising about their low prices or extensive network. They may be even advertising an unlimited plan to draw the customers in, especially now that there is more competition between carriers.

Although the advertisements are tempting, they may be too good to be true. Look at the issue customers have with Wind Mobile Canada. While they are advertising an unlimited plan for voice and data, they rarely tell you that customers might be at risk of seeing exorbitant bills. Wind Mobile provides their promised plan only within the “Wind Zone” area. Although the sale representatives and their website indicate the boundaries of these zones, the customers complain that there are unexpected changes of the zone when they are near the boundary. When customers use their phones outside the Wind Zone, they are charged at a much higher rate on voice and data.

Business ethics is about companies standing behind their own products. In the case of Wind Mobile, the Wind Zone is part of their products and if the wind zone does not live up to their advertising, it is as though customers are sold faulty products. In this case, when the Wind Zone does not provide the service as promised, the custom are left with no solution as it costs too much money to cancel their contacts.
