In my practicum we integrated the subjects science, language arts, and social studies. In our ancient China unit we integrated the novel the forbidden city for language arts and observing silkworms for Science.

By developing cross-curricular activities there is a greater motivation for students and teachers can easily integrate one subject into different subject areas. If I was able to teach all the courses for an extended period of time I would make every subject integrated into the course theme. Math would be a great course to integrate with other courses. This subject has many students that will ask “why do I need to know this?” This is because they don’t understand how math formulas can relate to real life.
