Assessment

During my practicum I used several different types of assessment.  Several types of assessment allow for diverse learners to be assessed on the learning objectives and not assess on the task.  Some of the types of assessment where listed in my practicum summary.

  • LA – Used checklist for key points in Inquiry essay and writing performance standards.
  • LA – Blogs were assessed by self and teacher on a rubric. Students peer assessed by responding to other classmates posts.
  • LA – used anecdotal comments for in class summaries
  • Math – assessed with tests and quizzes
  • Interviews with students regarding work habit grades on interm report cards
  • Science Labs – Criterion referenced

In Social Studies the students had a choice of projects where they could chose to how they wanted to demonstrate their understanding.

Ancient China Final Project

For this project students had the opportunity to choose a project that showed their learning with a certain learning style.  Students could use an activity that showed a strength or challenge themselves by picking an activity that was difficult for them. This lesson went very well with my class and Shanna’s class.  The students where very engaged by being able to decide on a linguistic, kinesthetic or visual projects.  The project allowed for the students to have self-efficacy which led to greater motivation.
