Conformity PPT

Hi everyone, for your in-class essay, you are allowed to indicate key quotes from the book by using sticky notes. (However, please don’t have pre-written paragraphs. I know some of you can write very small…)

Also, I will post the conformity power point here if you would like to review. Keep in mind, I’m not testing you on these psychological concepts; they are here to give you some ideas about the concepts and themes in the book.

Enjoy your day 🙂

English 11 In-Class Essay

Hello everyone, here is some information about the in class essay you will be writing on April 21 (Block G) and April 22 (Block B).

  1. The essay topics will be given out in class.
  2. You will have 4-5 topics to choose from.
  3. You will be allowed to have Lord of the Flies with you while you write the essay because you will be required to find quotes and evidence from the book. It is open book but NOT open notes.
  4. You will have the entire class to write.
  5. Paper will be provided.

The topics will not be anything obscure; you should not find it surprising if you have been participating in class and reading the novel.  There is not much preparation needed other than to familiarize yourself with the book and think about some of the things we have discussed in class!

Below are the exact instructions you will receive during the essay exam:

Choose one of the following topics from below and write a well developed essay that is supported by evidence from the novel. The topics below are not thesis statements. You will need to come up with your own argument/position regarding the topics and compose an argumentative thesis. Please support your argument with a minimum of THREE quotations from the novel. Remember to think analytically: explain the how and why, as well as the significance of what you say in response to the statement.

Tues, Apr 5

Hi everyone, today, we received our roles for the trial and began working on the case facts and finding evidence.

Homework: Finished case facts sheet and rough draft of witness statement.

Lawyers please come to class with evidence from the book that supports your case so you can discuss with your witnesses in class.
