Hello everyone, here is some information about the in class essay you will be writing on April 21 (Block G) and April 22 (Block B).
- The essay topics will be given out in class.
- You will have 4-5 topics to choose from.
- You will be allowed to have Lord of the Flies with you while you write the essay because you will be required to find quotes and evidence from the book. It is open book but NOT open notes.
- You will have the entire class to write.
- Paper will be provided.
The topics will not be anything obscure; you should not find it surprising if you have been participating in class and reading the novel. There is not much preparation needed other than to familiarize yourself with the book and think about some of the things we have discussed in class!
Below are the exact instructions you will receive during the essay exam:
Choose one of the following topics from below and write a well developed essay that is supported by evidence from the novel. The topics below are not thesis statements. You will need to come up with your own argument/position regarding the topics and compose an argumentative thesis. Please support your argument with a minimum of THREE quotations from the novel. Remember to think analytically: explain the how and why, as well as the significance of what you say in response to the statement.
