Current Research

I am currently a Masters of Earth and Environmental Sciences candidate at the University of British Columbia Okanagan. My research thesis is supervised by both Dr. Mathieu Bourbonnais and Dr. Kevin Hanna and is funded by the UBC Eminence Fund. This project is based in the Chilcotin Regional District in west-central British Columbia in partnership with the Tsilhqot’in nation. This project will explore the relationship between wildlife viewing and it’s effects on animal behaviour. This project will employ wildlife observation methods, remote camera occupancy modelling and thermal UAV’s to gather wildlife data. This project aims to contribute to the local wildlife census and understand how wildlife viewing effects local taxa on a cumulative scale.

Previous Research

Let's Talk Mountain Parks | Homepage- Canada.caIn summer 2017 I had the privilege of working for the Banff National Park Ecological Integrity Monitoring team. In this position I worked on several field monitoring projects such as: Remote Camera Occupancy, Amphibian Monitoring, Terrestrial and Alpine Bird Monitoring, Pika Monitoring and the Sunshine Monitoring. These projects employed several different research techniques and allowed me to coordinate within a large team and adhere to time sensitive research windows.

During my fourth year as an undergraduate in Geography and the Environment at Lakehead University I conducted an honours thesis research study. This study explored the barriers to bicycle commuting to Lakehead University campus in Thunder Bay, Ontario. This study employed a qualitative research approach using focus groups and maps to deduct common barriers to cycling to campus.
