Microsoft to buy Minecraft for $2.5-billion

Microsoft Corp. has announced it has reached an agreement to purchase Mojang, the Swedish developer with 100 million players of its open world Minecraft game, for $2.5-billion. The deal is expected to close before the end of 2014.

However, some of analysts agree that Minecraft is on the decline and its glory days are over. They think Microsoft may have waited too late to buy Mojang, the hype is gone and many former players are no longer interested. They may be hoping that the other Mojang games will be as successful, but the real situation still remains to be seen.

Personally, I believe changing the model is not in Microsoft’s best interests. They want it because they believe that  it helps generate more revenue. Personally, as a casual player of this game, I will not be partaking in any of these in game purchases. If anything that I hope to happen, is a bit of a boost in resources at the creative and technical end.  Also, mojangs other games will no doubt benefit as well.
