The effects of Hong Kong protest on its economy

As known, there has been a protest in Hong Kong since China’s national day.

There are always a lot of tourists from mainland pouring in Hong Kong during the week coming after mainland China’s national day, so-called the golden week. Due to the traffic congestion caused by those protectors, business located in those areas are negatively affected. Even some restaurants and bars were suffering from slower business and closing early.

A great number of mainlanders canceled their trips after the protest due to the safety concern. To put it another way, hundreds of shoppers disappear in just several days. Meanwhile, some foreign governments gave the travel warning and recommend their citizens not to travel to Hong Kong forming a another reason of the reduction of the number of travels.

Although I am for Tina’s analysis, I do not 100% agree with his attitude towards it. I do think what those protestors did was not smart but it was far from ‘foolish’. They just chose an irrational way to express their will for democracy or simply negatively influenced by those protest leaders. They are free to protest for what they want though hey are not allowed to impact others’ daily routine even the public order.
