Reading SehamAbdul Karim’s blog ‘Google: The Dream Job’, induced many thoughts in my head which provoked me to learn more about Google’s Human resource strategies.Lets look at what perks are provided to Google’s employees:
- Free Gourmet and snacks which are never ending,
- Free ride to and from the workplace,
- Pets are allowed at workplace,
- Free massage given to employees in return of their good jobs,
- Free fitness classes and gyms,
- Extended vacations for employees to fulfill their passion.
These are just a few of the plenty benefits provided to the employees. I personally believe that employees are an integral part of a business and to keep them happy must be one of the key motives of a business. If an employee is given plenty of benefits by a company, then it may motivate him immensely to work harder for the company. Also as stated in Seham’s blog, Google has introduced unique positions like “Chief Internet Evangelist”, differences like these attract the employees and makes them feel happy and excited about working for the company. Working for a company that is quite different from the others is actually very attractive.
Also, the employees are provided with higher decision making opportunities, according to me this is a great strategy adopted by the Company. If an employee has a decisive role in the company, then it makes him feel engaged in the business and acts as a great motivation to work.
Being provided with so many perks, I would not mind working for a company like Google. Therefore, I feel that Google’s Human Resource department has done a great job by using motivation as a boost to enhance their drive towards success.
