I graduated with a B.A in Honours Psychology. Currently, I work as a research assistant in multiple labs in both the counseling and psychology department. My research interests are cognitive deficits in Fibromyalgia patients, positive psychology constructs in at -rick youth and exercise.

Michelle Chen

Michelle Chen is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Measurement, Evaluation, and Research Methodology program at UBC. In addition to pursuing her PhD, she has been working in Paragon Testing Enterprises Research & Development unit as a psychometrician. She holds a BSc in Psychology, and an MSc in Industry and Organizational Psychology. She is interested in research that allows her to collaborate and apply psychometric and statistical techniques. Validity is one of her research areas.

Mauricio received his B.A. in Psychology in 2011 and his M.A. in Measurement, Evaluation and Research Methodology (MERM) in 2015. He is currently a PhD student in MERM program. His research interests include reliability and validity evidence, the use of item formats, scaling, structural equation modeling, and item response theory. Mauricio is also interested in psychological issues, such as subjective age and personality. He published his first study in 2008, which assessed physical health, stress, violence, risky sexual behaviour, and addiction. He currently works on a project related to governance transfer, documenting the use of tablets for survey data, and handling imputations for missing data.

zarinaZarina Giannone
Zarina Giannone is a PhD student in Counselling Psychology at The University of British Columbia (UBC), working under the co-supervision of Drs. Alanaise Goodwill and David Kealy. Her doctoral dissertation will involve piloting a positive psychology group intervention with athletes, with a focus on identity development and well-being. Zarina works as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Mental Health Institute in the Department of Psychiatry at UBC.

Ben is a first year M.Sc. student in the School of Kinesiology under the Supervision of Dr. Eli
Puterman. His current research is looking at the effects of psychosocial stress on the physiological responses to exercise. In his free time, you’ll likely find him attempting to learn R, or taking in a baseball game.

Oscar Olvera
I am currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Measurement, Evaluation and Research Methodology (MERM) program. My area of research is primarily focused on the design and implementation of efficient computer algorithms for purposes of Monte Carlo simulations. I also do research on multivariate non-Gaussian distributions through the use of Copulas (with applications towards SEM) and Bayesian estimation methods in the social sciences. geriGeralyn Ruissen
Geri is a first year Ph.D. student in the Psychology of Exercise Health and Physical Activity Lab, under the supervision of Dr. Mark Beauchamp. She also completed her Master’s degree with Dr. Beauchamp and her research interests broadly involve developing and evaluating the efficacy of time- and cost-effective ways to increase physical activity across the lifespan.

Johann is a PhD Student in the Experimental Medicine Program, doing his best to promote inactivity in the prevention of chronic diseases, and preventing injuries in active, athletic populations. His particular methodological and analytical interests lie in data visualization and longitudinal data analysis, with all its inherent complexities. When he’s not taking MERM courses to complete his sub-specialization or immersed in data analysis, you are likely to find Johann doing something active with his wife or friends – warding off chronic diseases while trying not to get hurt.
