Below are four selected assignments that showcase my completed work in the English 301 Technical Writing course.
Definitions Assignment
The purpose of this assignment is to formulate three different types of definitions of the same technical term. The term I have chosen is vitrification. The goal of the following definitions is to provide a baseline of understanding to young environmental science students, which would assist in their further studies of this multi-faceted and ever-progressing term. This assignment was a great introductory to professional, direct writing with a specific audience in mind.

Complaint Letter and Response
Below are the attached documents of a complaint letter (regarding the poor quality of a purchased product), and the corresponding adjustment letter in response. This assignment taught us strategies to accomplish a goal with an organization that has caused us an inconvenience for whatever reason. These strategies included writing with “You Attitude” and using a professional, unbiased tone supported with facts and not criticism and how to organise this document appropriately.

Peer-Review of Polina Beskrovnaya’s Formal Report
In preparing my own report, I have become very interested in encouraging the movement of natural products and interdisciplinary, holistic care in dental clinics; likewise it was inspiring to see my peer also formulating her report around the Green Initiative in UBC labs. I enjoyed tieing in what I have learned about writing with “You Attidude” in this last review and I regarded this review with upmost importance as it is closesly related to the future career pursuites of my collegue.
