Approximately 33% of Surrey’s land area is designated as agricultural land under the Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR). Of this, about  27% of Surrey’s ALR land (or ~2,600 ha) is currently available for expanded agricultural production, and two thirds of this available land is parcelized into small plots of 4 ha or less.
