#21: So I just looked at my schedule…

… and I am blown away thinking about the fact that there are only 2 more weeks of class left. I actually cannot wrap my head around the idea. It’s both scary and comforting.

This week is relatively quiet work wise, but the next few weeks are going to be absolute hell. Assignments, readings, projects, and term papers are all due next week and the week after, and following that, it’s only a short (if even) break before it’s time for finals…

On top of that, my best friend Aline and I have to find a place to live in next year. Unfortunately, neither of us got a housing offer from UBC. Here’s the thing: my number is something like 455 on the waiting list for the winter session, and although UBC housing says that people whose numbers are over 351 will probably not get a spot in res, everyone else says that I’m safe. Aline’s number is something crazy and close to 3000 so her chances of getting a res offer are pretty much zero. She also applied for year round housing, where her chances of getting an offer are considerably higher, but this also means that we don’t get to be roommates. SO, in order for us to live together (which we very very much want to do) we have gone about trying to find alternate housing, which, for the record, isn’t going too well either. Waiting sucks, and it’s freaking us out as we see more and more of our friends signing leases for houses next year. Fingers crossed we don’t end up homeless.

Other than that, the weather is progressively getting more beautiful and I have amazing friends, both of which I’m incredibly grateful for. I was getting pretty down last night thinking about having to say goodbye to them for the summer… It’s amazing how fast this place and these people have grown on me.

I can’t wait to write a recap of what my first year has been like, but it’s not time for that yet. I’ll start thinking of everything I want to say soon, but for now, the sunshine is calling my name.

Love,

Tanya ♡
