Project Introduction:

In this project, we are designing an emergency kit for our client, Eric Molendyk, which he can access in case of an earthquake or similar disaster. The kit will be designed so that it will be easily accessible, with personalized content which suit our client’s needs.

The community that will benefit from the project:

Our project is very client focused, and that client is Eric Molendyk. Eric has cerebral palsy, and one of the results from this condition is that he is unable to bear any weight on his legs for any length of time. Currently, he is dependent on a wheelchair for his mobility, which could prove to be a problem if a disaster strikes. We will be helping Eric by designing a preparedness kit for use during emergencies such as earthquakes.

Team Introduction:

** Hello! My name is Peter Li and I am currently a second year civil engineering student at UBC. I came from China to Canada in high school and I embrace my multiculturalism. At this point I am trying to keep my options open for what I wish to pursue later on, because I feel the need to work in the industry first before deciding what I really want to do. I am genuinely an active person and enjoy playing basketball and swimming outside of classes.

** My official name is Qi Chen, but I usually go by Kathy. Like everyone else here, I am a second year civil engineering student, and I look forward to working on this project. In my spare time I bake, draw, and write. Unfortunately that makes the outdoors somewhat of a bane of my existence, but fortunately Vancouver weather is very forgiving and often gives me plenty of reason to stay indoors and cuddle up at home with some fresh bread and nice tea.

** My name is Dilveer Dhillon and I am a second year civil engineering student.  I am really interested in the structural engineering side of civil engineering and hope to pursue a career in that field. In my spare time I like to watch hockey and play video games.

** My name is Enrico Carlos.  I look forward to working on this project because helping people has always been one of my passions.  At this point, I am choosing between either structural or transportation side of civil engineering however I am keeping my options open.  My hobbies outside of class is playing the bass guitar, reading, and playing tennis.

** My name is Neda Naderi and I am a second year civil engineering student. I’m originally form Iran and my father is a structural engineer back home so I am planning on continuing my studies in the field of structural engineering. My hobbies out side of class are playing the guitar, baking chocolate cake and of course watching TV!

** My name is Jun Jie Zhang. I am currently attending second year civil engineering program. I completed my first year program at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, and I transferred to UBC in September 2012. My goal is to become a professional structural within six years. I like to play basketball and badminton. I enjoy the competition, and I can meet people with same interest.
