The new policy of greenhouse reduction brings a huge problem to oil industry. Everything, in my opinion, is double-edged blade. The price of oil increases because of the carbon-pricing increased.(CBC News). It will be a bad effect on economy but it is positive to our environment. However, this new policy can help encourage those oil companies to create new technologies in order to be effective and efficient. Modern technologies can help save more money and decrease pollution to protect our environment. Otherwise, those big companies need to be responsible with our society but not just pay their attention to make money. They have to pay for their destruction to our whole society.

With the development of the economics and technology, the quantity of human’s life is increasing as well. However, they ignore the importance of protect the environment. Based on the awareness of protecting the environment, they had already come out some effective solutions to mitigate this problem. According to the research from Athabasca University, it is said that “Since environmental externalizes can involve significant social damages and economic distortions, one would expect the emergence of policies that restrict polluting activities” (POLI 325 Canadian Environmental Policy and Politics). Consider our living environment while developing the economics, human can live in harmony with nature peacefully. Drug deal

I want to talk about the drug deal in Canada. To global retailer accustomed to merciless competition Canada is appealingly civilized. Unlike America and But things are becoming less comfortable. Target, an American discount chain, moved into Canada this year, joining Walmart, a behemoth that has been there since 1994. Safeway, another American grocer, pulled out in June, but only because a Canadian rival, Sobeys, made an irresistible offer for its stores. Clothes retailing is getting more crowded, too. J.Crew arrived in 2011 and Nordstrom, an American department-store chain, is expected in 2014. All this is happening as consumers are becoming less cheery: economic growth is sluggish and debt is high. Thus, drug deal is big political events in Canada, it cost lot of money on it. The deal will mark the arrival in Canada of another global fad. Until now Canadian grocers have largely ignored the trend in other rich countries to open “convenience” shops in the neighbourhoods where their customers live.

My own opinion about Senate Scandal in Canada.

Tracy Zhang

52663135

Recent years, some senate scandals happened in Canada threatens the reputation of the whole senate. There is a staff named Duffy, and he wants to pay back the public purse $90,000, which makes the whole senate get into being suspected. However, as far as I am concerned, senate has existed for a long time and its status cannot be damage so easily. Although the operation of senate appears something wrong, senate still has ability to improve itself. Laura Payton mentioned Jim Armour, a former director of communications to prime minister of Conservative Party, in his articles, and Armour considers that the delegates “know the potential political damage of what’s been going on in the Senate. They’re fully aware of it, but they’re going to fight through.” Therefore, senate’s status in Canada will not only be impaired, but it will also develop much better in future.

Politic(Lily 53536132)

The article illustrates that the Canada government restricted China to buy the Blackberry.
Because of the Canada’s foreign-investment policy, there are many companies
outside the Canada are scared by this policy, and choose not to invest Canada’s
company. In my opinion, Canada’s government should free trade with other
countries, it will bring many benefits, because the ten economic principle
shows that “trade will make everyone better off”, such as it will create work
opportunities, varieties of good and lower price. And Canada’s government
should reduce the restrictions to creates more investment with other countries.
In the example of Blackberry, if federal government ends up a future bid, both
China and Canada’s companies will be better off.

Blog 2 by Mavis Wang: About winter Olympics Held in Vancouver 2010

Mavis Wang: #50595131

Canada held up the Winter Olympic Game in 2010 in Vancouver. Even though it is really a good chance for Canada to introduce its environment and culture to the whole world, many people in Canada complained about hosting the Olympics because it cost billions of money (Canadian Olympic Team). They thought that Canada used most of the tax revenue to build things what they did not need. It is a challenge of Canadian economy system because the government used the tax to support the game and it may cause a shortage of capital even financial deficit. So there are both positive and negative effects for Canada to host the 2010 Winter Olympic Game.

The end of Canada’s combat mission in Afghanistan

Andrew Liang #51869139

In 2011, the combat mission of Canada in Afghanistan had ended. However, its training mission started. The training mission was mainly about the trial of Afghan military and police since their size got bigger. However, even the cambat mission had ended, there was still many threats existing which was dangerous for Canadian soldier’s life. The partisan still fought for their independence and liberity. The used suicide bomb attack and guerrilla to attack foreign troops. Canadian had continued sacrificing in Afghanistan.

In my opinion, Canada should withdraw their troops as fast as possible. It’s meaningless to fight a war which have no relation with the interests of Canada. In addition, Afghanistan is “the grave of superpower”. In the past, the Great Britain Empire and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics was declined after they invaded Afghanistan. Canada should not involve into this kind of “superpower issue”.

We Need a Country with Hope

Written by Chester 45834132

Liberal Party is running a campaign called Real Priorities. They advocate the government should concern middle class as the priority rather than political class (Liberal Party 2013). I am quite agreeing with their campaign. Millions of immigrants rushed into Canada hundreds years ago, they all hope to cultivate their opportunity. It is the hope of getting a better life attracted them to come to this a brand new country. The people who contribute to the development of this country should be credited to their hard works. We are here to create a nation with hope. We should not back to the society back to medieval period of Europe when hard working people can hardly earn their livings. In my opinion, we need a country with hope rather than a country fulfilled with desperation.

Stand Up for Our Glorious Canda

Frank Fang#35236132

According to the article ” Alberta, BC. Pipeline deal gives Northern Gateway new push:Enbridge CEO”, I find that BC and Alberta have already reached the agreement of the framework on Oli pipeline which is from Bruderheim to Kitimat. For me, this outcome is totally unacceptable. As we know, once the pipeline is in service, the most of the oil from Alberta will be sent to Asia and any other countries expect Canada ourselves. First, the project is driven by the benefits of companies outside Canada. Therefore, our oil will not benefit us to much. Canadians deserve the oil. Second, the opportunity cost of damaging the environment is way too high, compared to the tiny interest we get from pipeline. Due to the fact that lots of oil have been bought by foreign companies with underprice, the only thing they concern will be the benefit of the oil, but not our environment because the beautify forests in BC are not their homeland. The environment belongs to we Canadians and thus, we will never allow others making money by damage our home.
