Nike is a famous brand in the world and it is popular among not only youths, but also all ages who like sports! Why is it so successful? The good marketing strategy of the company is necessary.

Nike’s products include shoes, apparels and equipment products like basketball, running, tennis for men, women, and children. It started its businesses in 1979 and soon becomes very popular in youth because Nike supply Urban fashion clothing products. It also sells small amounts of plastic products to other manufacturers.

Nike charges high prices or premium prices for its high quality products it offers and its famous brand. The pricing based on the basis of premium segment as target customers.

There are 25000 retailers of Nike in US, and its products are supplied in almost 200 countries of the world. This means that place strategy is used by Nike. In the international markets, Nike sells its products through independent distributors.

Nike uses a very effective promotional tool in the market. First, Nike’s logo is very distinctive and highly recognized all over the world. Its company also has advertising in the newspapers and invites a number of famous athletes as its brand ambassadors to make its brand image strong like Brazilian Soccer Team, Lebron James for basketball, Tiger Woods for Golf. Nike also sponsors some events like Hoop It Up, which makes it one of the most recognizable brands in the world. I also like Nike’s creative advertisements, which expresses power of sports.

Just do it

Nike has a powerful branding strategy, which is one reason for its high revenues. Its quality products, loyal customer base and great marketing managements make Nike a successful branding in the world.

 

4Ps of Coca Cola

Coca Cola is a famous brand and almost over 93% population can recognize its logo. Why is Coca Cola so successful? First, I want to know the “people” of it. Coca Cola’ main target market is young people. As well, kids and older do enjoy their products. The company occupies considerable large market because it knows what customers want!

After reading Coca Cola Opens Up New Doors Into India, I am interested in the 4Ps of Coca Cola.

Product:

Coke is not the only product of Coca Cola, but is the most popular one all over the world. On average, there are 300 beverages are produced by Coca Cola, such as Sprite, Fanta, Fruitopia, power juices and more. The packaging of the products is also different because of the size of the drinks. The sizes consist 300ml, 600ml, 1.25 liters, 2 liters and most commonly are cans( 375ml).

Price:

The price of Coca Cola depends on its products and sizes. The customers readily accept the prices offered by the firm because of the increased demand rate of the products. Also, the price is reasonable, and much cheaper when it is on sale!

Place:

You can find Coke at any stores, restaurants, or gas stations even at vending machines. Because Coca Cola is a leading brand, it is available across the world. The firm gives customers much more convenience to find its drinks at anywhere and at whatever time.

Promotion:

The company promotes from the very start in an effective manner to ensure that customers remained attracted to the product. Some channels including television, radio, Internet, billboard and advertising are used to promote the products. Also, customers can win a free bottle if they get a winning cap. These methods of promotion attract a lot of customers.

Coca Cola is so successful because it has a good marketing mix which we should learn about.

 

 

Apple and marketing

With the release of iphone4Gs, Apple company has been the most discussed topic in recent weeks. Like Bonnie Zhou’s Blog about new iphone 4S said, though a lot of disappoint voice has been come out, iphone 4S is a still successful product of Apple company. It provides some amazing updates in software rather than appearance.

Why is Apple so successful? What we can learn from Apple about Marketing is what I am thinking about.

The first important thing is the pretty appearance of apple products and marketing materials. Apple spends a considerable amount of time to make their products design and even product packaging and websites better than their competitors. The simple use of black and white (and silver) color in their design of everything make you feel different from other products. This point is important in business marketing strategy.

Second, Apple’s special types of ads are interesting and attractive. These types of ads do not tell you how great their products are, instead, they show other people using and talking about their products. This strategy of selling from their fans is more believable to new customers.

One more thing, Apple creates a unique customer experience. When you enter the apple store, you feel like different from other stores. If you visit the Apple website, you also experiences unique from other sale websites. Apple’s special operation system of their products makes you feel fresh and unique. To be unique is important in whatever business. To let customers recognize your products from enormous competitions is a key to success.

There are also a lot of things to make Apple so successful. We can not just “see” it, to think and to learn is more important.

 

Online Tire Store-Canadian Tire

With the increasing development of e-commerce market, more and more companies use a new tool called “online store” to attract and facilitate customers. Canadian tire now entered the new e-market with a new online tire store which includes more than 4000 tires.

“It’s more challenging to manage assortments in store and corporately, and making sure that we have tires available for our customers,” said Deacon who is associate vice-president of automotive for Canadian Tire in Toronto. “Having the ability for customers to reserve their inventory online and make sure it’s in-store is a great way of solving that need while providing a better customer experience.”

In the website, visitors can choose tires based on their needs and wants. The online store provides many brands and types of tires and customers can pick up packages according to their vehicle type, tire size and model year. This new online service gives customers a big convenience that they can shop anytime and at anywhere. Once buyers have made the purchase, they can find their products in the nearest Canadian Tire store when the products are ready.

As a customer, this new technology saves my time by shopping on the internet instead of visiting a lot of local stores to find tires and also creates value and satisfaction to me. Canadian Tire not only makes a closed profitable relationship with exist customers in the long run, but also attracts new customers by entering the new e-market.

According to Deacon, online sales of tire just account for less than 5% in the whole tire market in Canada with an estimated $2.5 billion a year. However, “It’s a small but growing part of the business” said Deacon. I also believe online store is a huge market in the future!

Introduction

Hi, everyone. My name is Yue Wang and I am an international student from China. This is my third year in UBC and my option is Transportation and Logistics.I take marketing because it is my required course.

Before taking this course, I thought marketing was just a strategy which was come up with by for-profit companies to increase their benefits, that is, gain more money! Because in the past as a customer, I had a lot experience with sales persons. I always felt that they tried to push me to buy their products or to be involved in their services and did not even think what I really need. I even received calls(which were annoyed) or emails everyday for sale promotion and I often ignored them because of bad impression.

However, I changed my mind when I had this course! Marketing is an important part in business and is more than just selling and advertising It really creates values for customers and not just captures values from customers. Its primary goal is to satisfy customers’ needs and wants. Marketing is also a media for customers to know more new products and services and to find what is really suitable for them. For now, as a customer, I will pay more attention to “what I received” and get value from them! Also, as a business student, I need to learn how to benefit both of buyers and sellers. Therefore, studying marketing is a good tool to achieve this goal and also it is very interesting!
