Alexander Wang x H&M

Recently, I found a post on Yuwei Chen’s blog that attracted my attention. I was quite familiar with those high end fashion brands including Alexander Wang and also some high-street retailers like H&M. It is likely to be the first time that these two representative brands collaborate and launch a collection with combination of each brands’ characteristics.

In terms of the pricing of this collection, I agree with Yuwei Chen. Since the price of a Alexander Wang item is actually high for ordinary people including most of those fashion followers, the consumption of Alexander Wang’s products is quite smaller compared with that of H&M’s. Alexander Wang really know what people want to wear and design its product with passion and energy. With the collaboration with H&M, the collection has been sold with great popularity though the quantities are limited.

It is a win-win situation for both of these two brands. The high-end one has a chance to not only promote and advertise its products but also spread its brand. Meanwhile, the fast-fashion retailer like H&M will succeed in attracting more customers even with higher level of consumption.

From my point of view, there is going be an increasing number of this kind of collaborations between high end fashion brands and fast-fashion retailers. Chances are that you may see people wearing Mac Jacobs x GAP or Alexander McQueen x H&M on the street.
