ANNUAL ASA ELECTIONS

The Anthropology Student Association (ASA) is excited to announce that we will be holding our annual elections on March 18th at 12:00pm in the ASA Clubroom in ANSO. Being an exec for the ASA is a great way to get more involved with your department both to enrich your academic and social involved during your UBC experience. The role of the ASA is to provide students the consistent supply of opportunities, both social and academic, to fellow Anthropology Students. The positions are shown below.

You can submit your nominations during the *FREE* Ice Cream Social this Thursday from 12:00-2:00 or email us at ubcanthro@gmail.com. Please bring your own bowl and spoon!

ASA Executive Positions:

President: Liaison to Student Administrative Commission (SAC). Call general meetings and oversee club operations. Act as a liaison between the Anthropology Department and undergraduate student body.

Vice President Internal: Facilitate conflict resolution and mediate issues within the club.

Vice President External: Liaison between the Anthropology Department and undergraduate student body.

Treasurer: The roles of the Treasurer involve planning the club’s budget at the beginning of the fiscal year; applying for grants; overseeing project budgeting; applying for Special Occasions Licenses (SOLs); and submitting the requisite paperwork for bank drafts, cash, and cheque reimbursements alongside deposits.

Secretary: The roles of the secretary are to take minutes during weekly ASA meetings and check the ASA email.

Graduate Representative: Act as a liaison between the graduating class, the department, and University at large. Manage operations pertaining to Anthropology students’ graduation.

AUS Representative: Act as a liaison between the Arts Undergraduate Society (AUS) and the Anthropology Department.

Social Coordinator: Plan and manage social events held by the club. Responsible for obtaining event permits and licenses.

Promotions Coordinator: In charge of promoting the club and events.

Website Manager: Manage and update the club website and Facebook.

Journal:  The roles of the Journal Coordinator involve promoting the ASA Undergraduate Journal; planning a budget for the journal alongside the Treasurer; collecting essays submitted to the journal; editing submissions; compiling the journal; formatting the journal; and printing the journal

Member at Large:  Help out at club events.
