Bio

Hello,

I’m John, a pharmacist, software developer, and now a student in an accelerated second-degree Computer Sciences program in UBC. I graduated from UBC Pharmacy in 2015 and worked as a licensed pharmacist in BC for about two years before setting my sights towards a career in software development. After several months of teaching myself the fundamentals of software development, I was hired by a local award-winning health technology startup. I worked as a full-stack software developer for about seven months before entering the Bachelor of Computer Science program at UBC, a program designed for students with prior degrees. My academic and professional journey so far has been rewarding with exciting twists and turns along the way.

I’m a product person. I am passionate about designing and building fantastic products that people use every day. More specifically, I am interested in developing valuable and easy-to-use products for health care professionals. As a pharmacist, I have seen my fellow colleagues suffer at the hands of poorly-built tools and drown in redundant and repetitive paperwork. For most of us, we are simply told to sit down, stay quiet, and accept it. However, there are some of us who can see how much further we can achieve with our technology and fight for the right to attain it. Building great products for health care professionals is what I care about, and I hope it will lead my professional career into interesting places.
