Research has shown how much more committed people are to initiatives over which they have a sense of ownership. Some companies, then, are looking for opportunities to more actively involve customers in design, tweaking and customization.

Design
• Toyota worked with Google + to create Google Hangouts for customers who are trying to decide which Toyota to buy. Friends and family can help the potential buyer design the car by dragging in and testing different features. Dealers can patch into the hangout as well if anyone has questions.
