The Ricochet

A few people know from the start that entrepreneurship is the way for them. “I couldn’t imagine working for anybody else,” they say. They tend to use words like “stubborn, determined, restless, independent,” to describe themselves. They are not dissuaded when they discover how tumultuous building one’s own venture can be.

For others, entrepreneurship is not such an instinctive choice. They might start considering their own venture because of circumstance – lost job, boring job, new family circumstances, new city, retirement… Some might stumble into a great idea or team and find themselves contemplating an entrepreneurial future.

Then there are those who could not imagine anything more unappealing than taking on the risks of an all-consuming entrepreneurial lifestyle.

Where do you fall in this spectre? Will you ricochet back and forth depending on your circumstances or life stage? Or are you firmly planted on one end?

Physically mark off where you are right now and explore why that is.
