My first name is Samantha, but people call me Sam (she/her).

I am the Coordinator of Educational Technology for the Fort McMurray Public School Division, where I support teachers with educational and assistive technology and lead K–12 curriculum development in digital literacy, computer science, and artificial intelligence.

My work focuses on helping educators develop thoughtful, critical, and ethical approaches to AI literacy. I am particularly interested in how generative AI is reshaping teaching, learning, communication, and knowledge creation, and supporting educators and students to understand AI not simply as a tool, but as a sociotechnical system that reflects and influences culture, media, bias, power, and decision-making.

I hold a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta and am currently pursuing a Master of Educational Technology at the University of British Columbia.

Since beginning my teaching career in 2015, I have taught a wide range of grades and subjects from Early Learning to Grade 12, most recently senior high computer science, though much of my experience has been in elementary education.

Outside of work, I enjoy walking with my dachshund, Stevie, and taking spin classes on my Peloton bike!
