Ghostrunner

Ghostrunner is a Google Glass app that takes care of the need to find a running partner. Users can record their own time, set a pace they would like to achieve, or race against other people.  Some applications include personal training, rehabilitation, high performance athletics, and physical education.

This is such a unique idea! How would you see the ghost in real time though? Does this mean you need to run while holding your phone? That seems a little dangerous to me, however AR could make this much safer for everyone involved.

This is really a cool idea, I agree. It’s for google glass, so ya it would just be on your glasses and you would see the runner and the other GUI stuff through the glasses but imposed onto the world via AR.

It is awesome that the ghost runner can be modelled after the runner’s previous runs to encourage personal growth. Paired with 5G and more IoT sensors, all the alerts, notifications and interactions will be possible and deliver up to the minute info on traffic patterns, crosswalks that will be lit green, changing weather, location of the beloved neighbourhood ice cream/taco truck, etc.

    Cool name, cool app!

Fitness wearables and apps are become more and more popular. Users are turning to these technological solutions to log their activities, and to gain performance data and insights to learn more about themselves and their bodies.

With something like this, information is available instantly — and users can react and learn accordingly.

This would also make runs less… boring? We see a map in the interface — what if runners could receive news alerts, notifications, or even contextual interactions driven by AR?
