Bassam’s Introduction

handwriting

Hi, my name is Bassam. I work as a clinical resource nurse in the perioperative area at Fraser health. I have a BS in nursing and a provincial instructor diploma.  This is my 8th MET course.

I chose this picture because most people acknowledge that the hand writing of some doctors is terrible and messy; and, it is difficult for pharmacists to read their prescriptions. Thanks to technology that improved the communication and digitalise the prescriptions made (in some healthcare facilities) so the errors have dramatically decreased. The effect of using technology in communication in the health care system has an enormous effect on improving the health care efficiency. With all these sophistication in communication and technology, there is a better diagnosis of different diseases and of course a better prognoses and hope to patients.

I look forward to working with you all.

  1. Welcome Bassam. I too have doctor writing. I know my students appreciate when I type, perhaps the errors in my writing have less dangerous effects, but we can see benefits in communication in education as well.

  2. Hello Bassam! It is nice to see you again. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if there were OCR technology for this? (Perhaps there is?) I noticed the implementation of digital prescriptions at my Family Practice Centre at Women’s College Hospital in Toronto. It is a welcome development! Julia
