Rip.Mix.Feed – Mixing Music
I decided to remix some music. I wanted to do this because I wasn’t aware of the ccMixter site at all and thought it would be interesting to explore. It is a really great website, you can listen to people’s remixes or choose individual instruments and mix your own. I used Audacity to mix the tracks together. I have used Audacity before but not for this type of activity.
There is an overwhelming amount of choice, so it is a bit daunting to make decisions. It is really easy to create a song though. I think it would be good for students to create their own songs from projects. It would help to reinforce ideas about copyright.
I don’t think I will be able to create music for my second job, but I had a lot of fun and will probably continue to play around with the program and maybe use it for other projects as well.
Song 1 is the first one I created. I added a discordant track because I had been listening to some discordant music before I started and it was on my mind.
Song 2 is a bit of a slower pace. I was trying to create more of a background track, so there isn’t a percussion track so there is less drive to it.
For Song 3 I wanted something a bit faster with more of an electronic feel. I used two of the clips twice to get a round effect. I think it edges the song along.

Not sure if the audio files have uploaded correctly. I’m getting “file not found” if I select the files on Safari or Chrome. I’m logged into Connect.
