2007-2010: Implementation of Inner-City Inclusivity Commitments and Vancouver’s 2010 Olympics

May 26th, 2010 by BK

Funded by: Canadian Population Health Initiative (CPHI)
Years: 2007-2010
Principal Investigator: Jim Frankish
Co-Investigator: Rob VanWynsberghe

The study examined the implementation and impacts of the 2010 Winter Games Inner-city Inclusive Commitment Statement (ICS). The ICS was a set of economic, environmental, and socio-cultural promises made in 2002 by the Bid Corporation, and the governments of Vancouver, British Columbia, and Canada that outlined what the Games would do for inner-city residents. For example, barrier free venues would be developed for people with disabilities, and people would not be made homeless as a result of the Games.
