Conclusions

Due to the limitations and error of the available data for the waterways and flood infrastructure sites, the results can only be considered as a preliminary list of priority infrastructure for upgrades to Fish-Friendly.

As discussed, there is great deal of data that remains to be collected in order to create a truly comprehensive list of priority infrastructure. Further investigation may include more water quality testing, information on riparian shading, age and condition of the current infrastructure, if there is community or First Nations interest in the waterways, surrounding land use and the impact on salmon habitat, proximity to gravel bars or other significantly suitable salmon habitat in the Fraser River, analysis of the “Fish-Friendly” sites, and much more.

Watershed Watch is continuing work on this project through their Connected Waters campaign, and I will also personally continue to investigate this issue with them.
