Results and Discussion

The results of the multi-criteria evaluation are as follows:

Since each floodgate or pump station does not necessarily have a name, the table presents the associated Infrastructure ID and disconnected waterway. The municipality that the infrastructure is located in was also indicated.

It was not surprising that the #1 site was located on the Katzie Slough, since this is a waterway that Watershed Watch has already focused on for their Connected Waters campaign. They have a substantial restoration plan for the waterway, incorporating  the Katzie First Nation, BCIT, other partners and many volunteers. The #5 site, on the Camp / Hope Slough waterway, is another area that they have focused restoration efforts and have captured the interest of the local community. The other top sites should therefore also be considered for similar restoration work by Watershed Watch and their partners.
