US economic growth revised up to 1.7%

High unemployment is acting as a drag on the US economic recovery

The US economy grew at an annualised rate of 1.7% between April and June, up from a previous estimate of 1.6%, the US Commerce Department has said.

Despite the upward revision, it still marks a sharp slowdown from the rate of 3.7% recorded in the previous quarter.

The latest revision of second quarter growth factored in more consumer spending than previously thought.

There are fears about the sluggish pace of the US economy, with the unemployment rate close to 10%.

This news is obviously a good new to American economy, economic depression in US is not only affecting its own economy, but also the canadian economy. Since Canada has a close relationship with US, poor economic situation in US also bring negative effect to Canada. With high unemployment rate in America, many American come to Canada to find jobs which leads to many jobs in Canada are being take away and many Canadian becomes unemployed. As a result,US and Canada are both in a poor economic situation.
