Oksana Tkachman

I am a PhD student in the department of Linguistics at the University of British Columbia. I am interested in information structure in multimodel communication, the independent role of different channels (e.g., gesture) and their interaction in communication, and non-linguistic factors affecting language development. Most recently, my work focused on linguistic frames of reference and referentiality in language and gesture. In the past I was associated with the Sign Language Research Lab of the University of Haifa where I studied morphology of Israeli Sign Language (ISL) and Al-Sayyid Bedouin Sign Language (ABSL).
