Join LWB@UBC in linking fair trade products to social movements

Dearest SLAISers,

Please join the student committee of Librarians Without Borders (LWB@UBC) at 3pm on Tuesday, November 10th (Room 260, I.K.B. Learning Centre) for a talk by Lesbia Morales Sican entitled “Fair Trade and the Campesino Committee of the Highlands (CCDA) in Guatemala: Linking Fair Trade to Social Movements.”

CCDA is a Guatemalan movement that struggles for the rights and culture of the highland Maya, and exports fair trade coffee grown and harvested by its members. Lesbia, 27, is a member of the National Executive of the CCDA. She is also the Women’s Economic Development Coordinator, and assists with production and marketing of CCDA’s fair trade coffee.

LWB@UBC’s Cafe Etico sales representative, Kirsten Daub, will also be in attendance to answer any questions you may have about the Cafe Etico products so many of you have been generously purchasing in support of Take a Stand for Kids (TASK).

Cafe Etico coffee and light refreshments will be served. Other members of the UBC community who support Cafe Etico will also be in attendance for this collaborative event.

Please email lwb.ubc@gmail.com for more information.
