The Environmental Youth Alliance (EYA) is a registered charity supporting BIPOC youth to connect with nature, community, and skills to become environmental stewards and community leaders. We provide free land-based education and paid employment-training programs in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.

The EYA is currently hiring for the following roles for start dates in August / September 2021:

  • Youth Program Manager I $25 – $26/hr I 36 hours/wk I 5 weeks vacation
  • Youth Program Coordinator I $23 – $24/hr I 32 hrs/wk I 4 weeks vacation
  • Indigenous Youth Program Coordinator I $23 – $24/hr I 32 hrs/wk I 4 weeks vacation

Animal Welfare Practicum Student Position

 The Faculty of Land and Food Systems’ (LFS) Animal Welfare Program (AWP) is seeking two career practicum students to support the care of dairy cows and calves and learn operational practices at the UBC Dairy Education and Research Centre (DERC) in Agassiz, BC. This is a six-credit practicum during the fall/winter term. Students will be required to reside at the UBC DERC, however a vehicle is not required. 

This position is a practical career experience. Students will not be required to complete a research project; rather they will be participating in the day-to-day care of farm animals involved in ongoing animal welfare research activities being undertaken at the UBC DERC. Students must complete the required academic components as prescribed by the Academic Supervisor for APBI 496.

Farm Manager

Lettuce Harvest is looking for a Farm Manager to oversee their 10 community farmyards in three farmyard nodes throughout East Vancouver. A good Farm Manager is organized, works well in a team and is passionate about food justice and urban agriculture. The Farm Manager is responsible for overseeing the design, management and behind the scenes operations of the Community Farmyards. While Lettuce Harvest’s community farmyards are communally managed by volunteers, the Farm Manager ensures that work isn’t slipping through the cracks and supports volunteers in learning.

Grant Writer

Lettuce Harvest is looking for a grant writer to work with their team researching, organizing and applying for grants. A good grant writer is organized, has strong writing skills, and is passionate about food justice and urban agriculture. The grant writer will help manage volunteer grant writers with support from the Director of Strategy and Executive Director.
