The College of Agriculture, Food and Environment at the University of Kentucky is seeking a motivated graduate student with an interest in calf and heifer management, an interest in ruminant nutrition or an interest in precision livestock management for Spring 2022 (or Fall 2021). The student should have a background in Dairy Science, Animal Science, Biology, Data Science, or Animal Behavior to work at Dr. Costa’s lab. At least some experience with animal agriculture is desired.

UBC Graduate Certificate in Aquaculture: Registration is open!

Interested in sustainable food sources, ocean sciences, or cultivating fish and aquatic plants? Consider a career in aquaculture!

We are now accepting applications for this one-semester program for fall 2021. The program will be offered online, with potential industry site visits if allowed in the fall. Taught by professionals in fish health, seafood processing, production systems and ecological sustainability, this certificate program is perfect for students who want to gain career-ready skills.

Aquaculture helps to supplement natural fish stocks, and it has grown into a large, commercial industry employing 25,000 people across Canada. This growing industry needs more well-trained aquaculture professionals who are grounded in science and are passionate about sustainability and healthy food production.

Those with a bachelor of science or engineering degree are eligible to apply to the Graduate Certificate in Aquaculture, offered by UBC’s Faculty of Land and Food Systems.

The Program includes seven courses:

  • Aquaculture Production Systems
  • Fish Nutrition, Feeds and Feeding
  • Fish Health
  • Finfish Genetics and Reproduction in Aquaculture
  • Ecological Sustainability of Aquaculture

Western Canadian Dairy Seminar

Registration is now OPEN for the 2021 Western Canadian Dairy Seminar!

Online, March 8 to 12, 2021 is the ‘Virtual. Dairy. Reality’ Western Canadian Dairy Seminar (WCDS). Spread out over 5 days (2-3 hours a day), the virtual (online) version of WCDS 2021 gives you the opportunity to hear about recent research and new technology from speakers presenting on a range of topics, including calf health, nutrition, and reproduction.

There will also be virtual tours of 3 progressive dairy farms across Western Canada, a live student research presentation competition (delegates can vote for their favourite presentation) and, the always popular, producer panel. The virtual trade show area gives you the chance to connect with our industry sponsors as well as discuss the latest dairy-related research in the virtual research poster display section.
