Amanda presented my lesson on the nitrogen cycle and the phosphorus cycle in an engaging way that showed her understanding and enthusiasm on this topic. She paced her presentation well and explained the usage of the graphic organizer in a clear way. The group members were able to follow her lesson and complete the simple compare and contrast diagram.
Assignment 2: Content Area Small-Group Presentation
Shane did a great job of teaching this lesson. He has a lot of background knowledge already, and he has a very teacherly presence and voice. While time did not allow for the graphic organizer to actually be used, he did an effective job of explaining it.

Assignment 2: Characterization
Characterization Graphic Organizer
Kirsten presented my lesson and graphic organizer with enthusiam and eloquence. She began by expertly explaining the literary device of characterization along with its two types: direct and indirect. She read the example text to the group clearly and gave examples of each type of characterization. She was able to correctly identify examples of both types, and encouraged others in the group to do the same in order to fill out the graphic organizer.
Attached is the characterization graphic organizer that I created in my practicum for use for the novel Tuck Everlasting in English 8 and a text I found for this activity.

Assignment 2: How to Make a Pinch Pot
Lauren did a fantastic job of taking my mini-demo and making it her own. She facilitated group participation by having each classmate try to demonstrate a step using their hands and making the motions they thought would be correlated with the image and instructions. She collaborated with me to decide on the best method to introduce the graphic organizer and we established that having students look at the images first and try to order them would be a suitable preview activity to the content. They then checked their order alongside the written instructions and Lauren led them through the steps altogether.
Assignment #2 – Graphic Organizer
Electricity is not an easy topic and understanding how batteries work is not very intuitive. So giving this lesson topic to an Art major might have been a bit unfair of me. Nonetheless, Rhea was able to knock it out of the park and clearly understood the purpose of this organizer. I felt she was able to clearly communicate the difficult topic.
Assignment 2 – Giving Travel Advice in French
Janna was able to explain the concepts and elements required for our group member who are non-French speaking. She provided coherent and logical explanations that made it seamless for the group members to learn both how to conjugate travel-related verbs into the imperative form and then to construct the phrases themselves. Janna provided great feedback during our peer meetings, which helped me in constructing a graphic organizer that including all of the key components and steps for non-French speaking students.
Below is my original text with which I was working (this is from the Communi-Quête 1 Textbook), as well as my graphic organizer template and “answer key” that included expected responses:
Assignment 2 – Elie Wiesel
Jenna did a very good job at introducing the author Elie Wiesel to our group. She first gave them biographical information in English and had them filled in the graphic organizer. Then she made them watch the short biography I made in French. She stopped regularly to see if everybody was following and translated the content beautifully. I was amazed by her French skills!
Here is the original video I made: Wiesel

Assignment 2
April did a really great job of teaching some very complex concepts in the First Peoples Principles of Learning. The activity I planned with a graphic organizer was experimental, and she facilitated the activity very well.Chloe Assignment 2 LLED 361
